Alamo lies about 28 miles from San Francisco and is just south of Walnut Creek. Though unincorporated and mostly rural it is one of the wealthiest communities in the United States. The quaint town shopping center provides the community all the necessary services and if larger stores are needed it is only a few minutes north to Walnut Creek and Broadway Plaza. The Iron Horse Trail runs along the Las Trampas Ridge foothills and provides a relaxing family path for hikers, bikers and runners all through the week. The rural setting supports homes with horse farms and acreage as well as comfortably affordable single family homes. Alamo students are served by the San Ramon Valley Unified School District.
